Addition
Fire Station
Buffalo, NY

The intent for the expansion of the Elmwood Virginia Fire Station was to create a new landmark for the neighborhood with a symbolic brick tower as a primary design element, paying architectural tribute to the past history of fire houses. Due to its location within the historic Allentown district, the facades incorporate arched brick and limestone detailing to blend the newly built structure with the dominantly Victorian styles of the surrounding streets. The interior features a sky-lit lobby with custom designed metal panels depicting silhouetted images of fire fighting scenes. This station is one of Buffalo's most active fire houses and also serves as the preferred venue for public tours.
