In 2019, SSA was selected to design a new facility for BFD Engine 25. Initial studies investigating the feasibility of renovating the existing firehouse for Engine 25 was an ineffective solution for the fire company.
Sited on the same parcel as the existing facility, the design changes the building orientation to allow direct access to Seneca Street for fire vehicles. As a result of site constraints, the design for this 4 bay fire station stems from the BFD Prototype Study completed in 2018. A staff lounge, fitness room, kitchen/dining and dormitory are included within the building for all personnel.
Single occupancy restrooms and changing facilities allow for the BFD to adapt seamlessly to a higher volume of female firefighters.
